Culottes: My Summer Wardrobe Staple
For a while I have been wanting to share more fashion and style posts with you, especially now that my new job out of the lab gives me a lot more freedom to dress how I want! So I thought I’d start with sharing this invaluable new addition to my wardrobe which has the perfect office and weekend staple with all this warm weather: culottes.
I bought myself this gorgeous pair of camel-coloured culottes with a tie waist from Primark before my big French roadtrip and I wore them so much whilst I was away! I was unsure at first how I should style them, especially as many of the capsule pieces that I took away with me were red (my signature colour!). They actually turned out to be a really versatile piece, easily dressed up with a shirt and a pair of heels, or down with my comfy red ankle boots and statement leopard biker jacket for exploring gorgeous French cities, from Dijon in the north, to Montpellier in the south. The camel colour goes well with everything, but these similar nude pink ones from New Look would also be perfect for those summer getaways and equally as versatile.
The culottes were perfect in France for those days when I was out doing a lot of walking and wasn’t too sure what the weather would be doing, you know, when jeans are much too warm but it’s probably too cold to get your legs out too. They were also super-comfy, but looked more dressy than a pair of jeans, especially with my flat Gucci-style loafers, so stopping for a glass of wine in a cafe full of effortlessly chic French women in the south of France was never a problem 😉
I would definitely recommend getting yourself a pair for if you’re looking to be a little more adventurous with your summer wardrobe. I will be looking for some more pairs in different colours; perhaps a black pair like these tailored ASOS ones, to be worn with a white shirt and killer heels for work. Will you be wearing culottes this season? How do you style yours?
